The one about the.Girlz

Being girls in an world that it's rather well known to be composed by a vast amount of male population is challenging in many more ways that can be expected.

Mostly because we are generalised as a rare item (never to be seen as a good thing in the beginning) but there are a lot of misconceptions surrounded our capabilities to achieve a certain amount of work being done due to, what appear to be "clear" : "we are just girls"

Yes, I admit that overall the acceptance of female creatures into this world [I'll refer to it as the IT-world] it's a process that that takes some time to settle. and a s*** load of patience to endure.

Sometimes it's certain challenges from the inside of a team, sometimes it's from outside of the direct employment environment, that does not mean nevertheless that it hurts or bothers less, it gets to us the same way. Those "masters of the universe" how I like to call them, seem so proud when a little comment of THAT nature is being done, mostly because they know that with that futile sentence [she is a girl, she is technically challenged. She won't make it!], they will inflict some pain. And the result it's quite easy to foresee. The sensitive person we never knew we had inside comes bursting out against our will and they believe they have conquered the universe one more time.

**** (beep  sound) WRONG! (beep  sound) ****

Yes. we might run into cover to hide both angers, the visible one materialised to tears and the pride one, firstly because we could not stop this emotion on time and secondly, while being hurt, we swear at that time we will get back to make this "master" swallow his own words in normally a very short time afterwards. [ we NEVER forget... bitch alert!]

Talking would seem appropriate,  but that just sums up our problems more, because "men don't speak about feelings", so it's quite tricky to get a straight answer from them. So I used my golden opportunity to check back a few months later after the "incident". We had to present ourselves as "smurf" character and I remember picking the "Smurfette" as both representation of a girl and a blond ... After exposing me theory, 2 out of the 4 male teammates categorically dismissed the "crazy ideas"  and claimed that it's not the case. That little reception made my ego swell up slightly for a while, that in fact the male chauvinist pigs were being outrun by persons with brains ;) YAY!! Since that meeting the.Girlz have been taking into account slightly more, at least that's what I talk myself into... Or is it perhaps because we put our foot down more often? I must confess that it has become "easier"

Even though clashes will become a part of the daily activities, there is a very famous proverb that fits these situations greatly: small step for man - big step for humanity. It's a fact that a machine can not be changed into a human being, or that an little-asshole can change his mind overnight, but we can put them in the right lane for them to follow our directions. As you might guess, It's all about baby-steps dear reader, and LOTS of patience!!

Perseverance it's one of the God-given gifts we have embedded into our OS, so if you see the.Girlz smiling it's because they are up to something ;) So, fasten your seat belts, put your seats in the upright position and prepare yourself for one hell of ride!
